What’s in a name?

Reverse engineering the etimology of iAM echo242.

Synchronicities. Many of us experience them often, quiet signals that draw our attention to something the universe, or our guides, wants us to notice. 111, 333, 777 in a sea of stimuli, these numbers suddenly leap out from a receipt, a license plate, a clock. More an alert than a notification, a synchronicity invites you to ask yourself, “What do I need to be aware of in this moment?”

242 is mine. It took a major life event to catch my attention the first time, and once it did, 242 became a constant reminder to slow down and check in with life. Synchronicities of “angel numbers” carry many different interpretations, but there is one meaning for 242 that resonates deeply with me and perhaps will come to have meaning for you as well;

Love freely.

The duplicate. Reiteration, reverberation, reflection, echo. In a quite literal sense, iAM is the echo of what has come before. My father, also a musician and singer, his band, “ECOS de Cabo Verde” released at least two albums (that I know of). By the time I was born, his concert-hall days were behind him, but he had, perhaps unwittingly, sung loudly and proudly enough to send his song forward into the next generation.

The strange thing about an echo is that, while it has an origin, a starting point that sets everything in motion, it must take new forms the farther it travels into the world. This is our condition. We echo what came before, we become something new, and, in time, we ourselves become the source for whatever carries on beyond us.

iAM. Equal parts observation, declaration, and becoming. iAM is the emerging awareness of the field of consciousness we all belong to. No one has access to it, unless we all do. This is the name that connects us.

You cannot speak my name without referencing yourself; this is intentional. The “i” in iAM is all of us, together, always. It is the home we can return to if we allow ourselves to remember that this is where we began the odyssey.

This project is dedicated to that remembering, and to the hope that, in witnessing it, we can watch a new becoming emerge.

iAM, and that is only true because we all are.
